The Entertainment Community Fund invites you to join their 2025 Dancer Wellness Series in partnership with Spear Physical Therapy!
Presented in three parts, this series is an excellent opportunity to learn from physical therapists with performing arts backgrounds and experience working with dancers.
Part 1: Management of Hypermobility Spectrum
Monday, June 30
4 pm ET/3 pm CT/1 pm PTThis webinar will cover topics including:
- Generalized joint hypermobility and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD)
- Strategies to manage this common diagnosis among dancers
- The difference between flexibility and hypermobility, as well as relevant risk factors for injury in the performing arts
Participants will learn how to safely maintain mobility, flexibility and stability as a performing artist, with strategies that are easily applicable to their pre- and post-performance rituals.
Presenter: Nicole Mawhirter, PT, DPT, is a performing arts physical therapist at Spear Physical Therapy Times Square.
Part 2: Performing in Heels
Monday, July 28
4 pm ET/3 pm CT/1 pm PTThis webinar will cover topics including:
- The essential stability needed at the foot, ankle and entirety of the lower extremity as well as postural control, to reduce the risk of injuries
- Exercises including how to properly warm up and cool down after performing in heels

Part 3: Cross-Training for Dancers
Monday, August 25
4 pm ET/3 pm CT/1 pm PTThis webinar will cover topics including:
- Integrating strength training and mobility work, and how aerobic conditioning can enhance performance
- Break down the science behind cross-training and offer tangible, dance-specific strategies that can be implemented in a busy training schedule
Participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to make cross-training not just ideal—but essential and achievable.

Registration for each part of the Dancer Wellness Series is available through the Entertainment Community Fund Portal. Please create an account or log in to your existing account at portal.entertainmentcommunity.org. Each workshop in the Dancer Wellness Series can be found in the Workshops & Classes section of the portal.

The workshops of our Dancer Wellness Series are open to all dancers! These online workshops are offered nationally and available to anyone living in the United States, Puerto Rico and US territories.

The workshops of the Dancer Wellness Series, along with all other workshops, groups and services available through the Entertainment Community Fund are free.
- How long are the workshops of the Dancer Wellness Series?
Each workshop in the Dancer Wellness Series is 60 minutes long.
