What are the hours?

Monday–Thursday: 8 am–8 pm ET
Friday: 8 am–5 pm ET
Saturday: 8 am–4 pm ET

The Health Center partners with Mount Sinai Health System, so you have easy access to one of the best health systems in the country for referrals to other specialists.

Preventive Care

  • Flu, pneumonia, Covid and other vaccinations
  • Counseling and ordering of cancer screenings
  • Screening tests for chronic issues such as tuberculosis, blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol
  • Smoking cessation

Health Insurance Counseling

The Entertainment Community Fund has health benefit specialists available who provide free, unbiased guidance to help you find affordable, quality health insurance. We provide expertise and assistance with the NY State of Health Marketplace, Medicaid, Medicare, Child Health Plus, Essential Plan, COBRA (and the NY State COBRA subsidy program).

Do you take walk-ins?

You must call in advance to schedule a time, but we do take same-day appointments if time slots are available.

Who is eligible? 

The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts is for everyone who works in the entertainment industry. As a Mount Sinai health center, we don’t turn anyone away, but The Friedman Health Center is intended to be the medical home for the entertainment community. 

Are the services at The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts included in my union dues?

No. The services provided at The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts are separate from any benefits you receive as a union member.

Can my family come to The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts if they are not in the entertainment industry?

Yes.

Do you see children?

The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts is for people 18 years of age and older. However, our physicians will see young performers who work in the entertainment industry.

Is it free?

No. However, The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts accepts a wide range of insurance plans (see below), and will also work with uninsured members of the entertainment community to offer subsidized care. For more information, please see our FAQ for the Un- and Underinsured.

In addition, there are no copay visits available to anyone who has insurance through the Equity-League Health Plan or the IATSE Local One Health Fund.

What insurance do you take?
  • All entertainment industry union health plans
  • Most employer plans
  • NY State of Health Marketplace (i.e., ACA) plans: Healthfirst, Emblem, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Oscar
  • The Healthfirst Essential Plan (primary care only)
  • Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans
  • Workers’ Compensation

We do not accept Medicaid or Medicaid Managed Care plans, but our health insurance counselors can help you find and enroll in affordable, quality health insurance. To request an appointment with a counselor, please visit the Entertainment Community Fund Portal at portal.entertainmentcommunity.org.

What if I have no insurance?

Eligible entertainment industry professionals who are uninsured can be seen for a $40 copay for an office visit, including lab work. For more information, please see our FAQ for the Un- and Underinsured.
