Inspired by the hit TV series, featuring an iconic score by Emmy, Grammy and Tony winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and directed by five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (The Producers), SMASH is a hilarious behind-the-scenes rollercoaster ride about the making of a Marilyn Monroe musical. The cast features Broadway veterans and Tony nominees including Robyn Hurder (Moulin Rouge!), Brooks Ashmanskas (The Prom)—now nominated for a Tony for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical— Krysta Rodriguez (Spring Awakening) and John Behlmann (Shucked).
As opening night approaches for Bombshell—a dazzling Broadway show about the life of Marilyn Monroe—the backstage chaos hits a fever pitch. Legendary star Ivy Lynn (Hurder) is buckling under pressure, sparking a cascade of hilarious mishaps and dramatic surprises. As tensions rise, a temperamental director, a frazzled producer, two frustrated writers, an ambitious understudy and a stressed-out ensemble are pushed to their limits. But ready or not, the curtain’s going up!
