Capezio celebrates 130 years of excellence with this one-night only special event on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7:30p.m. This glorious production will highlight some of the magical moments in time as Capezio reflects the history of dance in America. With numerous dance legends, and stars of stage and screen, the program of dance and song will present a plethora of dance genres, styles, and mediums of performance! The show is produced and directed by former Joffrey Ballerina, Ann Marie DeAngelo.
The Capezio Awards will go to artists in multiple genre categories: Debbie Allen (Life Achievement), Wendy Whelan (Ballet), David Parsons (Modern), Michelle Dorrance (Tap), Steve “Mr. Wiggles” Clemente (Hip Hop).
Performers and dance companies include: California All Stars, Cirque du Soleil, Twitch, Dorrance Dance, Ephrat Asherie Dance, DNA from Jennifer Lopez’s World of Dance, Electric Boogaloos, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Contemporary West Dance Theatre, Parsons Dance, “Pippin” (by Bob Fosse), Desmond Richardson, Rock Steady Crew, Travis Wall’s “Shaping Sound”, Wendy Whelan, Mr. Wiggles, work by Mandy Moore, and more!
The Host for the event will be Nigel Lythgoe, and the evening will be benefiting both The Actors Fund and Future Dance (a program sponsored by Nevada Ballet Theatre).
