Our workshops can help you manage your arts career, develop freelance and entrepreneurial opportunities, discover meaningful industry-adjacent work or transition to a new career.

The Career Center Orientation (ET)

The Career Center addresses a central challenge for performing arts and entertainment professionals: navigating the episodic nature of work in the industry. This orientation will help you begin to take the necessary steps to identify meaningful work that complements your life in the entertainment business.

Are you wondering if pursuing a career in the performing arts and entertainment field is the best choice for you? Take the time to explore with your peers the emotional, spiritual and practical issues of continuing your entertainment industry career.

Career Journey | Act 1: Who Am I?

Are you looking for meaningful work to support your artistic pursuits or new career options, but don’t know where to start? In this workshop you will discover what meaningful work looks like for you while developing language you can use in a resume, interview and while networking.

Career Journey | Act 2: What Are the Possibilities? 

To continue on your career journey, you will learn how to generate a possibilities list using self-assessment information from Act 1, clarify your current needs in your work life and learn how to evaluate possibilities based on who you are and what you need.

Now that you have brainstormed potential work opportunities, how will you get there? To continue on your career journey, you will navigate labor market research resources and strategies, learn to develop your network to find people and organizations that can help and learn how to test work ideas through experience.

Musicians Career Management Group

Musicians and music industry professionals often experience stress, burn-out and/or feelings of frustration while navigating the unpredictable nature of their careers. This group invites participants to talk about their thoughts, feelings and experiences working in music, to build support with their peers and to identify self-care strategies. Also, guest experts will share information and tips on aspects of the industry.

Resume Writing Act 1 Workshop

Are you unsure of why you should be creating one or more resumes right now? Or what you should put on your resume? This workshop reviews chronological and functional resume trends and norms for diverse employment opportunities.

Resume Writing Act 2 Workshop

In the second part of the Resume Writing Workshop Series, you will bring a draft of your resume and get feedback in a supportive environment. You will also learn how to target your resume for a specific job by including key words from a job description.
