Support and Advocacy
Services offered include on-call volunteer advocates available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and counseling services (individual and group therapy) for survivors of violence. The Connections Place offers a four-month job preparedness program in order to help people with borderline personality disorder identify and obtain meaningful professional work.
NAMI-NYC Metro provides support, education and advocacy for families and individuals who live with mental illness. Services include support groups, courses about mental illnesses and their treatments, informational updates for its members, and educational outreach. Offers outpatient mental health services, psychiatric day treatment, crisis services, HIV/AIDS and bereavement counseling, Asian bi-cultural services, vocational rehabilitation, parenting education and job training opportunities to New York City residents.
Offers low-cost psychological treatment for people with emotional problems. Fees are on a sliding scale; services are insurance reimbursable and Medicaid is accepted.
Alzheimers Disease
Supports those in need of information, education and support regarding Alzheimer's in a variety of ways, which includes a 24-hour hotline, local organizational chapters, a publication and free library access, online resources, an online community, conferences, and wanderer's security program, in addition to raising funds for research and advocacy.
Dedicates itself to finding the cause, the cure, and care improvement for individuals with Alzheimer's and their caregivers. Offers online resources that provides information about Alzheimer's, as well as a newsletter, a magazine, and workshops.
Companion Services
Offers citywide friendly visiting, teleconnect and escort services to homebound, isolated and frail seniors.
Visiting Neighbors serve seniors in lower Manhattan, south of 30th St., from the East River to the Hudson. Volunteer visitors help seniors alleviate loneliness and isolation, escort seniors to medical appointments, assist with errands and shopping. Additional programs include health advocacy, socialization and case assistance for the "oldest elderly."
Elder Abuse
A state-mandated case management program that arranges for services and support for mentally or physically impaired adults who are at risk for harm.
