The Trans lifeline Hotline

Trans Lifeline is a national trans-led organization dedicated to improving the quality of trans lives by responding to the critical needs of our community with direct service, material support, advocacy, and education. Support and Advocacy

Domestic and Other Violence Emergencies (DOVE) at Columbia University Medical Center

Services offered include on-call volunteer advocates available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and counseling services (individual and group therapy) for survivors of violence. The Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program provides documentation of evidence, medical examinations, crisis counseling, etc. No cost. Contact 212.305.9060.

The Connections Place

The Connections Place offers a four-month job preparedness program in order to help people with borderline personality disorder identify and obtain meaningful professional work.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City Metro

NAMI-NYC Metro provides support, education and advocacy for families and individuals who live with mental illness. Services include support groups, courses about mental illnesses and their treatments, informational updates for its members, and educational outreach. Their Helpline provides information and referrals, and can be reached at 212-684-3264.

Treatment

Blanton-Peale Counseling Center

Accepts many forms of insurance for counseling and therapy, and offers a sliding scale for the uninsured. Call the client coordinator for details about an initial consultation.

Henry Street Settlement Outpatient Mental Health Services

Offers outpatient mental health services, psychiatric day treatment, crisis services, HIV/AIDS and bereavement counseling, Asian bi-cultural services, vocational rehabilitation, parenting education and job training opportunities to New York City residents.

Metropolitan Center for Mental Health

Offers low-cost psychological treatment for people with emotional problems. Fees are on a sliding scale; services are insurance reimbursable and Medicaid is accepted.

Alzheimers Disease

The Alzheimer's Association

Supports those in need of information, education and support regarding Alzheimer's in a variety of ways, which includes a 24-hour hotline, local organizational chapters, a publication and free library access, online resources, an online community, conferences, and wanderer's security program, in addition to raising funds for research and advocacy.

The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation

Dedicates itself to finding the cause, the cure, and care improvement for individuals with Alzheimer's and their caregivers. Offers online resources that provides information about Alzheimer's, as well as a newsletter, a magazine, and workshops.

Companion Services

Jewish Association Serving the Aging

Offers citywide friendly visiting, teleconnect and escort services to homebound, isolated and frail seniors.

Visiting Neighbors

Visiting Neighbors serve seniors in lower Manhattan, south of 30th St., from the East River to the Hudson. Volunteer visitors help seniors alleviate loneliness and isolation, escort seniors to medical appointments, assist with errands and shopping. Additional programs include health advocacy, socialization and case assistance for the "oldest elderly."

A state-mandated case management program that arranges for services and support for mentally or physically impaired adults who are at risk for harm.
