Day Care and School Resources
This website provides a directory of public schools in New York City as well as information guides about a large array of topics regarding NYC public schools. You can find pre-kindergarten programs, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and schools for children with mild to moderate disabilities. School profiles include the website's review, other programs (such as after school) offered, and parent comments. Links to other helpful education sites are available.
Search for a child care center, compare centers across the city, and sign up for free text and email messages to receive updates about your child care provider. The directory lists all programs that have been issued permits by the Health Department, which includes Child Care Centers, School-Based Child Care or Summer Camps.
New York State Office of Children and Family Services
OCFS provides an online facility search for various child care programs and centers: including day care centers, small day care centers, family day care homes, group family day care homes, and school-age child care programs. The site also describes the various types of child care.
A non-profit membership organization of Independent Schools and families. Affiliates include over 250 independent schools, including early childhood programs, day schools and boarding schools. Their website provides a directory of all their member schools and notes which schools provide extra support for special needs students. Provides members with a variety of resoruces, such as babysitters, parenting classes, calenders of children's theater and tutors.
Support Groups and Services
The Adoptive Parents Committee is a non-profit parent support group comprised of volunteers dedicated to improving all aspects of adoption and interim (foster) care.
The Fathers' Rights Association seeks, through equal parenting rights, to ensure that children maintain a continuing, nurturing relationship with both parents after divorce or separation. They provide peer support to their members, as well as resource materials and referrals to service providers.
Provides a range of support services for adoptive families including counseling, respite/crisis intervention, support groups, and information and referral services.
Services in NYC include a single fathers program, workshops for urban parents, programs for kids, and more. The site also has a bookstore for single parents. Nationally, PARENT LINE provides telephone assistance and referral to local support groups and resources.

Amlon Tutors is a NY-based tutoring service that offers individualized teaching for most academic subjects from K-12, college & graduate, and test preparation for a variety of New York City, New York State and national tests. Tutor subject areas include: English, Math, Science, Computer Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Languages.
Big Apple Tutoring is a Manhattan based tutoring agency teaching youth in grades k-12 and college students. Services include tutoring in math, science, english, history, most foreign languages, as well as test prep and assistance with college applications and essays. Each session with a Big Apple tutor is one hour at your home, unless your child requires more than an hour.
