General Assistance

FEMA: Emergency Response Action Steps

Guide on safeguarding collections damaged by water, whether from flood, fire, earthquakes, severe storms or broken pipes, and explains the proper salvage techniques and steps to use in the first 48 hours after a disaster.

FEMA: The Applicant's Guide to the Individuals & Households Program

Provides money and services to people in a disaster area when losses are not covered by insurance and property has been damaged or destroyed. This guide explains the types of assistance available, eligibility information and how to apply.

Hope-Net

Hope-Net provides emergency groceries for low-income members of the Los Angeles community, limited shelter options to very low-income and homeless clients, and additional household and personal items for the needy.

Lutheran Services in America

Emergency and disaster services include clothing, emergency housing, financial assistance, food programs, legal aid, telephone crisis support and referrals and support services. This site can be searched for services regionally or by type of assistance needed.

Metro

Metro provides direct social services and supports community development in the San Diego and Imperial Counties area, including emergency food and clothing to those in need.

Paradise Community Services

Paradise Community Services of San Diego County assists families and individuals who have suffered the devasting effects of a disaster by guiding them to resources and helping them to develop long-term recovery plans. In response to the recent wildfires, they are coordinating a program of long-term recovery assistance beginning with an assessment of local needs.

Pets and Disaster: Be Prepared

This page of the Red Cross website advises pet owners on how to plan for their pets' safety in the event of a disaster. Red Cross shelters do not accept pets, so it is essential to be prepared in advance.

Salvation Army

Provides disaster and recovery counseling and support programs, financial assistance, shelter provision and the distribution of water, food, furniture, building materials, sanitary, infant and child care products, medicines, bedding and other items for which an immediate need exists. This website can locate nearby branches by a zip code search.

SCORE: Counselors to America's Small Business

Provides disaster assistance for small businesses. Their website lists tips, tools, downloads, mentoring and state links.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Provides emergency financial assistance, emergency transportation and disaster relief and victim services. This website allows users to search for local councils offering assistance.

The Actors Fund Wildfire Resources

The Actors Fund provides services and assistance to those in our community directly affected by California wildfires. We offer emergency financial assistance to help with housing, food, basic necessities, etc. You can call us directly for assistance or visit our website for a collection of links to other organizations that will assist you with disaster planning, crisis relief and emergency financial assistance resources, in addition to those that we provide.
